Remy Ma vs Nicki Minaj: Who Will Reign as the Queen of Hip Hop?

Rapper Remy Ma released the ultimate diss record towards fellow rapper Nicki Minaj titled “ShETHER.”

Within minutes of the record going viral, Nicki Minaj became the number 1 trending topic on Twitter (as of 7:29 p.m. EST  yesterday, Nicki was still the number 1 trending topic). Remy Ma made the record because she felt that Nicki was taking shots at her on a song Nicki did with Gucci Mane called “Make Love.”

Now people had been speculating for a little while that Remy Ma was taking jabs at Nicki on some songs she previously released. Remy denied those claims earlier this month when she was on The Breakfast Club, stating if she was coming for somebody she would say their full government name, mother’s name, and so forth.

In the “ShETHER” diss record, Remy exposes some pretty major “tea” about Nicki. A few of Remy’s claims are Meek Mill told Remy that he and Nicki couldn’t have sex for 90 days because her ass was leaking; Nicki slept with Ebro from radio station Hot 97 and singer Trey Songz; and how Nicki’s brother is a pedophile. The record is seven minutes long and starts off with Nicki screaming “Free Remy” during an interview she did when Remy was locked up for stabbing someone who stole money from her in 2008.

Trey Songz posted a video on Instagram denying he and Nicki ever slept together but then he and Nicki got into it on Twitter because Nicki felt his tweets seemed like he was down to let people think they actually did sleep together. Everyone then proceeded to @Nicki telling her instead of having time to come at Trey when he was helping her by saying it wasn’t true, she should be in the studio recording her clap back record.

Nicki has yet to directly reply to the record. She tweeted “6” when the record went viral, posted a picture on her IG of the low sales Remy and Fat Joe had from a song they recently released, and then posted a video of Beyonce singing her version of classic Prince song “Dear Nikki,” praising Nicki as the best rapper in hip hop. Nicki needs to realize though that no one cares about her posts; people want her to reply via a record.

To me, this beef between the two rappers is thoroughly entertaining for many reasons. There has never been a diss record released this good since Nas released “Ether” going at Jay-z in 2001. Remy made the record extremely juicy by telling so much of Nicki’s business because in 2017 everyone loves some good “tea” and for hip hop fans, you are excited to see how this all will play out.

If Nicki does decide to reply — which she most certainly has to — her record must be the Nicki that rapped on Kanye’s “Monster” in 2010. I personally don’t think Nicki has it in her to make a strong clap back record that can overpower Remy’s, but we shall see.
